If you haven’t ever been to the Pink of Perfection website, you really need to check it out.  I have been a reader of the Pink of Perfection blog and I was a subscriber to the Pink of Perfection podcast for a while.  Sarah, the creator of the site has issued challenges during each month since January, and this is the first one that I’ve actually accomplished.  I’ve always read the blog and thought “That’s an amazing idea!” and “I’m really going to do this one!”  but I’ve never actually posted or sent anything in about it.  This time is the real deal, and I plan on  continuing in the coming months, because this challenge was so much fun to think about.

Sarah challenged everyone to create a Happiness List and get back to her with thier results.  I haven’t included the basics like my family and friends, because I think that they are a given. (Even when they aren’t so joyous.)

Stampin Sammie’s Happiness List:

*     The laughter of a young child.

*     The smell of a freshly cooked breakfast, especially when you didn’t have to make it.

*     A cold beer on a hot day.

*     The absolute euphoria of being in the moment of getting something you’ve waited for. (i.e., a long-awaited party or Christmas morning when you’re a child.)

*     Summer nights with the windows open, and a cool breeze coming into your house.

*     Fireworks.

*     Having time to quietly enjoy your hobbies, and truly being surrounded by them instead of the hustle and bustle of a busy day.

Thank you so much, Sarah.  This project was amazing to think about; and spurned some thoughts about the real joys that fall into my lap every day, especially the ones that I don’t think about nearly enough.

If you haven’t gone to the Pink of Perfection website yet, what are you waiting for?  The wit of the writers and the pure bliss of inspiration awaits you.

New way to show your scrapbook pages…. August 4, 2008

This project was done for Mother’s Day for both of my sisters and my mom.  I love how it turned out so much, I just had to share it with all of you.

What you’ll need:

  • a 12×12 plain canvas (can be painted or left plain)
  • a 12×12 scrapbook page of your design
  • a 12×12 page cover (with the edge that attaches to the book cut off)
  • adhesive

So, for step 1 you cut the edge off of the 12 x 12 page cover, like so:

Next, you’ll need some adhesive to place the page protector on the canvas.  I found that regular double-sided adhesive worked the best, and it gave me a little time to adjust the page protector if I didn’t get it just right the first time.

Because I chose a 12 x 12 page, it was a no-brainer to put the page insert on the top.  But, if you were working with a rectangle, such as am 8 1/2 x 11 size, you’d need to orient your opening whichever way will allow you to place the scrapbook page in properly.

Finally, I inserted the page that I wanted to display.  (This page is an example of my sister’s page.)

The back opening on the canvas is the perfect place to hang anything.

You could even get fancier with this project and paint the four exposed sides if you like, and if you’re putting a permanent theme in a certain canvas.  But I liked the idea that I could give my mom and my sisters each a new page every once in a while, and they could change it out without worrying about matching the paint that I put on the sides.

Hope you all enjoy- and happy scrapping!
