Stampin Sammie Blog

A blog about how my obsessions and my life collide.

Work on the CJ continues: October 10, 2008

Filed under: Scrapbooking — stampinsammie @ 4:28 pm

I’ve posted another set of pages from my CJ on my CJ Friends Blog.  Be sure to check it out.

I was thinking more and more about the content of my journal this time, rather than just a bulletpointed list of the things that I like or dislike, I wanted to give some reasons why I enjoy Harry Potter.  So, I included some of the many reasons, some quotes, and some sites that I frequent to give some background for my love of all things Harry Potter.

My next two journal pages will have to be finished soon…the deadline to send them out to the next person is on the 15th, so I have to work hard to finish up.  Isn’t it funny how you can start out so well, keep working along, and yet be so far away from completion when the finish line is right there?  I always felt that way in school, too.  It seemed as if I worked on something for such a long time, put so much time and effort into it, and then, (bam!) it was the day before it was due, and I had absolutely nothing accomplished.  I know that I procrastinate at times, but I really didn’t feel like I did this time.

Oh well, I guess I need to get off of the computer and spend some time in the scrap room before I go to work tonight.

Does anyone else find themselves 10 steps behind when they feel 10 steps ahead?

National Card Making Day October 5, 2008

Filed under: Scrapbooking — stampinsammie @ 2:02 am

Here are a couple of cards that I made today in celebration of National Card Making Day.  Is it National?  or International?  Hmmm.  I’m going with National, anyway.

I just really made some simple cards today, since it is my birthday…and I wanted to be able to pick up something and come back to it.  Between the phone calls from my family and friends, as well as my work on my CJ (http://cjfriends.wordpress.com) I didn’t spend as much time on them as I had anticipated, but I liked the results.

The following one has some of the new SU! yummy felt ribbon on it.  I loved using it, and could see this ribbon becoming a serious addiction in a lot of projects in the near future.

So, what did you make today?

I’m going to get to work on my National Card Making Day cards now,  I’ll post the fruits of my labor later on today, I hope.

Jumping in with two feet: October 1, 2008

Filed under: Scrapbooking — stampinsammie @ 4:53 pm

I have recently agreed to be part of a circle journal project.  I had never heard of one before; although the name is pretty self explanatory.  You purchase or make a journal of your own, and choose a theme.  The members of your CJ then pass around thier personal journals and you add your own creations based on that theme.

Mine is going to be entitled: “5 Things About Me”.  I’m going to encourage my CJ buddies to create up to 5 pages about themselves, and then learn more about the people that I’ve been swapping with for years.

I will, of course, write about my adventures with this project, and share my partners’ work as I go- as long as they don’t object.

I’m shooting to have a page or two done in the next couple of days, so look for updates soon!
